Tsultrim Rabjam

Nepal Tour Guide Tsultrim RabjamTsultrim Rabjam was born Ulrike Hübler in Judenburg, Austria. After completing her high-school education, Ulrike studied English and French at Graz University and violin at Graz’s Academy of Music. She completed her language studies with a bachelor’s degree and worked as a language teacher for a year. Very fond of foreign languages and eager to continue her education, Ulrike then went back to school to study English and Russian with the purpose of becoming an interpreter. At the same time she earned a living running a translation office in Graz. Ulrike was also part of the team that invented the parlor game called ‘Activity’ which has been a great success, especially in Eastern Europe.

In 1994 Ulrike traveled to Dhagpo Kagyu Ling in the Dordogne, France where she met the great Tibetan Buddhist meditation master Lama Gendun Rinpoche, an encounter which would change the course of her life. Ulrike moved to Dhagpo in 1996 in preparation for the traditional Buddhist 3-year retreat and was given the name Tsultrim Rabjam, which means ‘All Encompassing Morality’. Rabjam spent the next two years working in the reception office and when necessary, as an interpreter for Dharma teachings. After accomplishing her first 3-year retreat (1998-2001), Rabjam took monastic ordination and continued with a second retreat which ended in 2004. Rabjam then settled in the Laussedat monastery where she has been a resident since 2005, working mainly as a translator and interpreter for German, English and French, as well as in the area of communications.

At present Rabjam is deepening her studies of the Tibetan language with the objective of gaining a more profound understanding of the Buddha’s teachings and being able to translate teachings given by Tibetan Buddhist masters.
