



CHOEPEL GLATTER
Erwin Glatter was born in Graz, Austria and enjoyed a childhood growing up with loving parents and a brother. He studied Business Administration at the Vienna University School of Economics & Business for 4 years, and Acting for one year at a private drama school in Vienna.
While working on a master's thesis in 1994, Erwin met the renowned meditation master Lama Gendun Rinpoche for an interview. Immensely touched by Lama Gendun's wisdom and even more so by his deeply compassionate attitude, Erwin realized he held more than just the keys to an academic question, but to so many questions that concern us on a profound human level. That year, although very close to earning his master's degree, Erwin left his academic career behind and joined Gendun Rinpoche's meditation community Dhagpo Kundreul Ling in Auvergne, France. There, Erwin spent the next 17 years working and studying, and accomplished two traditional 3-year retreats under Lama Gendun's careful guidance. His name 'Choepel' means 'Glorious Dharma'.
After completing the retreats, Choepel began teaching at Buddhist centers across Europe and the US.
He also teaches 'meditation for stress management' at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and 'meditation as a tool in the creative process' at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zurich. Choepel has a gift for communicating the wisdom of the ancient knowledge he learned in a very broad way that is easily accessible and fits into our modern lives. In this, he feels he is accomplishing his life goal – when asked as a child what he wanted to become Choepel would answer, "Either a doctor or a clown!" As a Buddhist teacher, he feels he's a little bit of both…
